On the way back from Stramberk Adriana wanted to take KK to an open air museum called "The Wallachian Village" (Valasska vesnice) near Ostrava. It's a great place for little ones, with lots of paths, buildings, and farm animals, depicting life in the previous centuries.

Krystof had a great time. There were no cars, so he could run and see all the old buildings and little houses safely.

Karel & KK pay a visit to the BlackSmith:

The blacksmith explained to Karel that he was working there as a volunteer. His only income was from the items he created at the forge. He was allowed to sell them as souvenirs, but he said that the park had been very slow the last few weeks and he had not been taking home any money lately. Karel kindly purchased a small horseshoe for me as a memento of our visit, and as a way to say thanks to the smithy for demonstrating his trade to KK.

After saying thanks to the blacksmith, we continued on our way through the village.

The next stop was a typical farm house from that era. There was a wonderful women inside doing a great job of depicting a 19th century farmer's wife. She was quite taken with Krystof.

The farmer's wife tried very hard to get Krystof to come and live with her. Judging by the way he ran out of the house after he got away from Papa, the idea wasn't really to his liking...

KK decided to stay a safe distance from the house, in case the farmer's wife decided to make a grab for him... For the rest of our visit she kept popping up unexpectedly, keeping Krystof on his toes.

Further down the hill we came across a working farm that had ducks, pigs, chickens, goats, and even a donkey. The donkey let out the loudest braying I had ever heard, after Adriana, KK, and I entered his field.

KK takes one last look around:

After exiting the village, we headed back to Celadna, cleaned up, and had a good dinner. The waiter from Horsky Hotel Celadna kindly provided some pints for us after Adriana hid the Volkswagon and put KK to bed. This was our last night here before heading to Poland, and it was nice just to sit outside at the picnic table and have a couple of quiet drinks. All in all we had good weather the whole time and saw a lot of remarkable things in the Beskdy region.
